Our childhood lays the foundation for a happy life. It’s a period of life in which ideally children get to discover the world and themselves. At the same time, however, they may face high expectations and pressure. The new UZH Magazin shines a light on what it takes for children to grow up happy. This is also the topic of a recently published book Kindheit. Eine Beruhigung, in which UZH developmental pediatrician Oskar Jenni has brought together the expertise and insights of numerous UZH researchers.

UZH researchers from various disciplines are investigating the development of children and young people and the factors that influence them. Parents and other caregivers play a key role, of course, but our children’s educators and schools also play an important part in developing our children’s social skills, in particular. In addition, one of the main challenges of education today is how to deal with social media. The UZH Magazin explores these topics from different perspectives.

Protecting democracy from disinformation

As always, it also contains a number of additional topics, including protecting democracy from disinformation, combating violence in Latin America and taking a closer look at the exhibits in UZH’s various collections and museums. The usual selection of articles will be published here in English over the weeks to come. We hope you enjoy reading them!
